Clotheslines Against Blue Skies (Let’s Talk About the Weather)
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark’s new album History of Modern is blaring from the stereo as the snow starts to fall outside my window. We’re expecting 15-40cm in the next 24 hours, which means a major storm and major disruptions, so I thought I’d post a picture of bluer skies from last fall.
This shot from our backyard displays one of the great things about this house: multiple clotheslines. Not only will we save money and help the environment when the warm temperatures return but our clothes will have that great scent that comes from outdoor air drying.
Summer seems for far away right now but its pointless to pine for warmer days. The weather today is perfect for staying at home, writing and experimenting with hot drinks (soy chai latté anyone?) and hearty meals. A turn on the exercise bike is also in order. And, of course, as we learned from our Canadian history books, let’s all remember to eat our fruit and vegetables today to prevent the onset of scurvy.
Enjoy the weather, folks, whatever it is where you are.
