The Nikon-to-EOS adapter finally arrived today. At last I am able to mount the thrift-store purchased Nikon 28mm f/2.8 Ai-s lens on my Canon body. Sadly, the overcast skies and grey light make for poor outdoor shooting today, so I ended up testing the lens in the house and pointing it at one of my guitars.

There’s a method to the madness of this picture. I wanted to see how sharp the lens is with the aperture wide open and the text on the headstock allows me to do just that. As you can see for yourselves, it’s extremely sharp. The text is rendered perfectly. The contours of the headstock are crisp. You can make out every scratch and the winding on the lower strings. Naturally, the strings and tuning pegs are somewhat blurry, but that’s perfectly normal. At 20cm distance, the depth of field can be measured in milimetres.
